      Breitling is a brand known for its extremely precise and specialized Swiss watches, founded in 1884 by Leon Breitling. This year the celebration of 125 years of activity was crowned with the latest “Instrument for Professionals” (as the Breitling logo says): Navitimer 125E Anniversaire. This chronograph is representative for Breitling’s passion towards aviation, confirmed through the years by the manufacture of priceless timepieces and cockpit instruments meant to aid flight attendants and pilots.

      The Breitling Navitimer was born when, in the 1940’s, Breitling decided to add a circular slide rule to the bezels of the chronographers they were already producing for the use of aircraft pilots. In the 1950’s the Navitimer was already a well established line popular among aviation crews. The performances of the collection members, their versatility where flight equipment was concerned made Breitling the “official supplier to world aviation”. The brand has been associated with the “Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association” and the “Mercury Space Project”.

      The high-tech look of this piece is contributed to both by its innovative design and the complex functions gathered in what is an indispensable flight companion (multiplies/divides numbers, calculates rate of descent, converts nautical miles into kilometers).       The case is made out of high quality stainless steel and combines polished surfaces with satin brushed ones. The bracelet is a match (design wise) for the sophisticated look of the chronograph itself. It is a rigid wristband perforated for allowing air circulation, known as the “Air Racer”.
The automatic 38-jewl chronograph has been chronometer certified by COSC and has a 60-minute totalizer placed at the center of the dial (on the 3 o’clock position), for perfect readability.

      The watch is available in two versions, steel or 18 karat red gold case with an antireflective cambered sapphire crystal glareproofed on both sides and there are various options for the dial colour (black, “Panamerican bronze”, “Mercury silver”). The calendar, (at 6 o’clock), as well as the rotating bezel with its classical circular slide rule are both defining the Navitimer line. Inside the finely polished case there is a powerful and trustworthy Breitling 26-Caliber movement at work. The ensemble has a 3 bars water resistance, a tachymeter scale, a center sweep seconds hand, and the 12 hour counter placed near the 9 o’clock.

      The Navitimer limited edition will include 2,009 stainless steel and just 125 red gold pieces in a 43 mm diameter.
